More than a dozen taxicab companies service the Las Vegas district. When you enter a taxi in Vegas the driver will start the meter and an initial “drop” charge of $3.30 will appear. If your taxi journey starts at McCarran International Airport, an extra airport surcharge of $1.80 is added to the taxi fare. The regular metered charge is $2.65 per mile. If the cab is moving at under 10 MPH, the meter will turnover at a rate of $.53 every 63 seconds ($30.00 per hour waiting time).
